God's Grieving Heart

Dear Mosaic Family, When most people think of God, they don't think of a God who feels.

If you ask the typical Bostonian how they would describe God (assuming they believe in His existence), some would describe God as an indifferent creator, who sets everything in motion and stands aside in cool apathy. Others might view God as a vengeful judge who metes out punishment to the worst offenders. Still others might view God as a "Santa Clause" figure who brings presents to those who are good, and lumps of coal to those who are naughty. In all these scenarios, God is aloof, uncommitted, uncaring. However, the God of Holy Scripture is radically different. Scripture tells us God is love, and one cannot love from afar. God is intimately involved and wholly committed to us. One cannot become this involved in any relationship without becoming vulnerable. To love is to open up your heart, either to acceptance or rejection, to bliss or to grief.

Genesis 6 gives us a glimpse into God's grieving heart. Join us tomorrow as we look at Genesis 6:1-12, a text which gives us a striking view of God's love.

Praying for you! Pastor Jan
